The most important meeting of the day

Monday through Friday. 8:30 a.m.
Every morning at OneWay’s office begins the same way — not with tasks or emails but with a quiet gathering. Laptops are closed. Phones are put away. The whole team circles up. Someone shares briefly on a carefully chosen topic for the day. Then, we pray.
One by one, we lift up the work of each ministry, every project and every person serving under the OneWay banner. We intercede for media efforts, mobilization strategies, field initiatives and gospel tools being created to reach the unreached. We pray over goals, roadblocks and dreams — asking God to lead in every detail.
We cover one another in prayer — our teammates, field workers, volunteers and partners. We intercede for the lost and the nations. More than anything, we seek more of God — because we know that apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).
As 19th-century preacher A.C. Dixon once said:
“When we depend upon organization, we get what organization can do . . . But when we depend upon prayer, we get what God can do.”
That’s why, under the leadership of OneWay’s spiritual vitality director, Rich Huls, this rhythm of prayer is fiercely guarded. “We start [each day] by glorifying God with our faith and our prayers,” Rich reminds us. “When we commit our plans to Him, they’re established” (Prov. 16:3).
After we pray, laptops open and the day kicks into gear. Tasks begin. Emails fly. But the most important work has already been done. The foundation has been set — because, as Oswald Chambers said,
“Prayer is not preparation for the work; it is the work.”

As you pray, know that you are a part of our team. Just as you lift up the people and ministries of OneWay, we would be honored to pray for you. Please share your requests with marianne.kiel@owm.org.
