Meet the Team: Shannon Burns

Get to know the OneWay team! This week we'd like to introduce you to one of our summer interns.

Hometown: Ankara, Turkey

College: Cedarville University

Major: Digital Media and Broadcasting

OneWay track: Video Production

Shannon Burns grew up in Turkey where her parents were missionaries. She bounced back and forth between Turkey and the United States as she grew up, getting her education in various places.

Getting to experience the missionary life and seeing the challenges her parents faced being on the frontlines gave Shannon clarity that that was not something she felt God was calling her to. She wanted to use her gifts to glorify God and spread the good news, but she knew from an early age that she wanted to do God’s work in the supporting roles necessary to fund people like her parents.

As she was trying to figure out what specifically that supporting role would be, she tried out journalism, photography and photo editing. But none of those felt like a good fit for her. It wasn’t until her freshman year at Cedarville University that she believed God was directing her to Video Production.

Because she figured out this calling a little later on than other Digital Media majors, she felt very behind. But as she has learned and grown in this field, she has realized that it’s not about having the most knowledge but gaining the most experience.

This is Shannon’s second summer as an intern at OneWay. She loved her experience in 2021 and decided to come back for a second time to continue growing her skills in video production.

“Based on both of the years I have been here at OneWay, I can tell they are going places,” Shannon explained. “They have a distinct goal of expanding God’s Kingdom, and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

We welcome Shannon to the team!
