As a young child, Gary Alexander’s life was shaped by a pivotal moment.
“Dad’s suitcase was at the door,” he remembered. “Mom ran away, crying.” As his mom retreated to a closet to pray for her faltering marriage, she actually met Jesus — right there.
As their marriage was restored, the family was set on a new spiritual trajectory. Gary started going to church and his mom started teaching him from the Bible.
In Gary’s high school youth group, he started filming videos and found a new passion. After college, Gary served as a missionary in Central Asia, using his passion for audio/visual work for God’s glory. Some of his projects included starting a public relations department for a non-profit organization, working with a media team at a business-as-mission organization, and creating audio/video “God conversation” tools for Christian organizations.
Gary met his wife, Karin, while serving in Central Asia. They now make their home in Milwaukee with their two young sons, where the family has found ways to reach out to immigrants from abroad.
In 2020, Gary discovered OneWay Ministries online. He was excited to find an organization that shared his passion for using arts-flavored media as a tool to reach the world for Christ. He considered volunteering, but after prayer and consideration, decided to join the team full-time instead.
“It’s just my sweet spot,” he explained. “Hands-on media is my calling. It’s something I really love, especially video editing…seeing the story and having it morph into something amazing.”
As of early 2021, Gary joined the OneWay Studios team. He’s now creating Prayercast videos and assisting in a myriad of other projects. “God was guiding all the circumstances [that led me to OneWay] for His glory. The pandemic was a perfect time to consider this position, and I’m excited to join the team.”
We are thrilled that God brought Gary and Karin to OneWay as an answer to prayer for more
workers. If you know of someone else who may be a good fit, invite them to visit owm.org/joinourteam to learn about immediate openings.
