Austin never expected to return to the Christian faith.
Hurtful experiences within the church and his parents’ divorce led him to leave it all behind. It wasn’t until years later, when a friend invited him to an Alpha group, that he gave his life to Christ and discovered a calling to pastoral ministry.

Nicola Robinson, former OneWay staff member who now serves as Fund Development Marketing Director at Alpha USA, says Alpha offers another way to share Christ—one centered on hospitality and conversation.
How Alpha Works
Alpha is an eleven-week journey where people can explore the basics of Christianity through a shared meal, a thought-provoking video featuring stories, interviews, and real-life questions, and open discussion. The gathering can be hosted in a home, an office, a dorm, or a church.
“Alpha is focused on inviting people into a place where they can hear about the Christian faith and ask questions without being judged,” Robinson shares. “It breaks down barriers because people have an opportunity to be seen, heard, and loved.”
Just as Jesus dined with seekers and skeptics, Alpha recognizes that something as simple as a meal can open the door to gospel conversations.
“When you sit down to eat together, there’s a sense of building community...it’s very relational,” adds Robinson.
Last year, 2.8 million people in 158 countries explored Christianity through Alpha.
