100 Saved in Outreach

Before Alex Manga, a graduate of the Livingstone School of Missions, had ever preached Christ to Muslims, he had zealously served Allah.

He developed this devotion to Allah through his Muslim parents. He would often lead worship at the Mosque, reciting Surahs and calling others to pray.

One day, Alex's parents hosted a Christian, Abraham Jarju. Alex viewed this as Allah's will. He believed Allah wanted to convert Abraham back to Islam.

As Alex and his family gathered with him, something strange happened — Alex had a vision. His entire family, including himself, changed appearance. They all became distorted, ugly, and tattered. Only Abraham looked beautiful, like a newborn baby.

In distress, Alex told him what had happened. "Look, I saw something mysterious," Alex said. "We think you are from hell. You are a pagan and very far from God. You are dirty. But today, when I looked at ourselves, it was like you were the cleanest person in that room."

Alex then told him about the spiritual warfare he had been suffering from. He often saw visions of people fighting him, chasing him, and wanting to kill him.

He tried wearing charms and visiting village doctors, but he couldn't find freedom. Abraham showed him that he didn't wear any charms — Jesus protected him.

"There is one man that I know," Abraham said. "He's the man who wants you to be free. He's called Jesus. He's the one who saved me. And if you give your life to him and remove all of these charms, you will be saved from all these attacks that you are having."

That day, Alex took off his charms and gave his life to Christ.

"Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Savior of the whole world," Alex said. "He has saved me, and I'm a clear testimony of that."

God used Abraham to reach Alex with Christ, and Alex knew it shouldn't end with him.

Alex felt called to missions, and he knew he needed to be well-equipped. That's when he heard about Livingstone School of Missions.

"I heard that Livingstone School of Missions is a stronghold of great learning where a lot of spirit-filled missionaries are produced," Alex said. "I was so much impressed by that and felt that I should also become a great product of that school."

During LSM's intensive year-long training, students from various African nations focus on Biblical missions, theology, evangelism, developing character, and falling in love with Jesus each day. However, these students don't just sit in a classroom. They are required to evangelize up to 15 hours a week.

Here's what God did through this past year's class of 15 students:

• 11,800+ people were reached with the gospel

• 3,401 individuals accepted Christ

• 6 nations are now receiving these graduates as full-time missionaries

This year, OneWay Africa's Livingstone School of Missions is welcoming 35 students from 14 African nations.

After Alex graduated from Livingstone School of Missions in 2022, he became a pastor and shares Christ from village to village.

During an outreach in The Gambia, Alex stepped in front of a crowd of over 100 people.

"God has a love that is beyond human comprehension," Alex shared. "His love has been demonstrated through His Son, Jesus Christ. So, if you believe in Christ, you will not perish, but you will have everlasting life. The day that I received Christ, the old went, and the new came. Now, I'm a new person in Christ.”

As one of the speakers called for a response, Alex stood astonished as over 100 people gave their lives to Christ!

"I was not expecting it," Alex said. "I know even for me to be saved, it was very difficult. It was seriously difficult for me to be saved."

Livingstone School of Missions has equipped Alex to pastor and share Christ in the city and remote Muslim villages.

The country of Gambia, which sits upon the western coast of Africa, is home to an overwhelming 96% Muslim population. Alex described them as people who have never felt God's love for them.

To reach these villages, Alex first looks for the village's Person of Peace. When Alex meets him, he and the young believers he brings clean his house. After this, the Person of Peace will tell them what the village wants and doesn't want.

The next morning, they go into the community and engage in one-on-one evangelism.

"We tell them about the love of God," Alex said. "We can't reach God by our own power. We can't reach God by our own righteousness. Whosoever believes in the work of God will not perish but have everlasting life."
