Meet the Team: Shema Innocent

Get to know the OneWay team! This week we'd like to introduce you to one of the people working behind the scenes at OneWay to help Reach People.

Hometown: Kigali, Rwanda

College: Moody Bible Institute

Major: Missional Leadership

OneWay track: Evangelism and Outreach

Shema Innocent grew up in Kigali, Rwanda and moved to the Chicago area to attend Moody Bible Institute. God transformed Shema’s life when he was 18, and Shema began spreading the gospel to people in Africa. He was eager to learn more about God’s Word and reach people for Christ, which ultimately led him to major in Missional Leadership at Moody.

“When moving from Africa to the states, everything was new,” Shema said. “It's like I had come from a whole different world. New culture, food, weather, society, community — everything was a new challenge.”

Shema said he always dreamed of living in a big city, and he loves the good food, great downtown views, amazing community, the river walk — and especially Moody Bible Institute.

He was drawn to OneWay’s evangelism and outreach ministry as an intern because he knew it would help equip him for God's calling on his life. Shema’s big ask of God for these next few months is “that God would achieve whatever He wants in [my] life at this time.”

We love Shema’s huge heart and passion for people. You can hear more of his story on Episode 10 of the One80 podcast.

Help activate even more young adults into Kingdom-building work! We are expanding our internship program this summer and beyond. Learn how you can help:
