MY STORY
Growing up, I didn’t fully understand the Gospel or what it truly meant for me. I knew the name “Jesus,” but the weight of His sacrifice and love didn’t register in my heart. In fourth grade I began hearing about Jesus more frequently at church, in youth group, and through people God placed in my life, but I still didn’t grasp the full picture. However, the Lord was planting seeds in my heart during those years — seeds that would later grow in ways I never expected.
For as long as I can remember, my life revolved around sports — specifically soccer. I started playing competitively at the age of three and continued all the way into my freshman year of college. Soccer wasn’t just a passion, it became my identity. Every decision, every routine, and every goal I set was filtered through the lens of being an athlete. It was what I thought defined me.
But God, in His sovereignty, had a different plan for my life.
After my freshman year, I transferred to Aurora University for my sophomore year to study physical education with a minor in health. This transition also marked the first time in 16 years that I was not playing soccer competitively. At first, it was disorienting. I felt like I had lost a part of myself, but it was in that loss that I began to hear the Lord speak clearly. With soccer no longer occupying my time and attention, I finally had space to seek God deeply and ask what He truly had for my life beyond the sport I loved.
In that season of surrender, I began to understand the Gospel — not just intellectually, but in my heart. I came to
realize the depth of my need for Jesus. My identity shifted from being an athlete to being a child of God. My love for sports didn’t disappear, but it transformed. It became less about me and more about how I could use it as a tool to serve others, whether in PE classes, coaching, or simply encouraging young people through physical activity.
As I’ve continued to grow in my faith, a deeper calling has stirred within me — a desire to step into ministry. I’ve seen how many people are walking through life without hope, without purpose, and without a relationship with Jesus. I want to be someone who reaches the lost, someone who reflects the love and truth of Christ in a way that invites others into His Kingdom. That’s why I feel such a strong pull to intern with OneWay Ministries this summer. I want to surround myself with other young adults who are passionate about the Gospel and eager to be used by God. I believe this internship will challenge me, grow me, and give me hands-on experience in sharing the love of Christ with a broken world. It’s an opportunity to take what God has done in my life and begin stepping out in faith to help others discover that same hope.
I want to build the Kingdom, not by my strength, but by saying “yes” to whatever God asks of me. Because once you truly understand what Jesus has done for you, you can’t help but want others to know Him too.
Will you say “yes” with me and join my team this summer? I am seeking financial and prayer support that will enable me to advance God’s Kingdom. I’d love for you to be a part of that! Keep reading to learn more.
In Christ,
