MY STORY
Dear friends and family,
I have some exciting news to share with you! But first, let me tell you how I got here.
Sitting and absorbing the good, beauty, and truth around me has been a ritual all my life. Early on, I recall my mom carving out time to read to my siblings and me. She carefully chose the object of our reading time to reflect on things we were learning about the world, God, and His love. I recall with fondness the stories of missionaries and their daring work in parts of the world I had not yet heard of, along with the impact of their work and desire to carry out the Great Commission. Volumes of missionary newsletters lay on our coffee table, ripe for the realization of how these stories needed to be told. I was encouraged to pray for these, my brothers and sisters in Christ, and those who still had not heard the name of Jesus. These stories were an invitation to participate in God’s work, even if it looked different from these missionaries’ lives.
As I grew up I plunged into reading and listening to Christian nonfiction and God paired that with a love for writing that I discovered in high school through a class I took. I marveled at how careful attention to wording and structure played a significant role in how a story reads. I was encouraged to hear of how my brothers and sisters around the world overcame obstacles with God’s grace and became witnesses to His power and holiness in both extraordinary and simply ordinary ways. The genre of journalistic writing as storytelling became my favorite out of all that I had buried my nose in.
This led me to major in Communications at Moody Bible Institute. During my time here,
I have written for Moody’s Journalism publication, Halide which grew my love for writing even more. Through the intense process of researching, interviewing, developing, writing, and editing, I found joy and satisfaction.
These experiences have affirmed God’s command for me to serve Him through my skills as a writer and communicator. I consider it an honor to serve my brothers and sisters by sharing what God has done in their lives.
Now that leads me to my exciting news! This summer I get to do just what God has impressed on my heart as a writing intern at OneWay Ministries! OneWay’s mission is to activate people to exalt Christ and advance His gospel to the nations. And one way they do that is through writing — sharing compelling stories about the mission work happening around the world that informs and inspires people to pray, give, and go! I am so excited to take part in carrying the gospel out alongside these missionaries and Christians around the globe. I am also looking forward to developing these skills as a writer and communicator.
But in order to do this, I need your help! I’m inviting my friends and family to partner with me in two ways:
-
First, through prayer — that God would work in and through me, growing my faith and skills to further His Kingdom.
-
Second, through financial support — I am raising funds to cover my expenses and a small stipend for this Kingdom-advancing work and would love to invite you to join by giving financially.
Would you prayerfully consider partnering with me to advance the Kingdom of God?
