MY STORY
For a long time, I thought I was going to be a college soccer coach. I began my career coaching women's soccer and strength and conditioning. I loved helping people grow, encouraging them, and caring for them deeply. I have always had a heart for people—a passion for souls. I hoped to continue coaching at a larger university or even professionally.
Then I went through an incredibly difficult season that included ACL surgery and other personal challenges. Even then, I remained confident that coaching was what I was supposed to do.
Still, something within me kept drawing me toward ministry.
I had never seriously considered ministry before. My dreams had always centered on becoming a professional athlete or a coach. Eventually, though, I became curious and began exploring missions, pastoral work, youth ministry, and coaching as ministry.
As I searched, I found OneWay’s internship. They asked me to manage a building where 75+ people would be dedicating their lives to reach lost people with the gospel. I saw this role as the next right step towards following God’s plan for my life and took it.
I remember at one of our first meetings, I learned about the five billion lost souls around the world, the billions who remain unreached with the gospel, the places where few people are willing to go, and how much more effort is still needed to reach the unreached.
It unsettled me.
The more I learned about missions and the desperate spiritual need around the world, the more compelled I felt to help. I prayed over and over again, wrestling with leaving behind a good career in coaching.
But at the same time, something that had always been in me—a deep care for people—was becoming global. I wanted to help reach the lost around the world.
Coaching allowed me to encourage
people and help build them up physically
as they trained. But after two weeks at
OneWay, I realized that God was calling
me to build people not just physically,
but spiritually.
He opened my eyes to the need around the world and the role the Church has in reaching people who have never heard the good news of Jesus. As I prayed and wrestled with leaving coaching behind, I began to see that God could use the heart and abilities He had already given me to help reach the nations.
So, I answered God’s call and officially joined the team at OneWay. In the pages ahead, I am excited to share more about this ministry, why I believe it is worth giving my life to, and how you can join me in bringing the hope of Jesus to people who have never heard.
