LYDIA
WILLIAMS
ministry operations & support intern

MY STORY
For years, I thought I would be an ICU nurse. Yet, in the summer of 2022, that door was abruptly closing… before it even opened. My health was declining rapidly, online credit opportunities were dwindling, and my heart was increasingly drawn to people, not medical terminology. In August of that year, the Lord asked me to fully lay down nursing and trust Him with the passions for the Word and relationships He had placed within me. I knew that passion was there — my fire for God that had been reignited in the deep valleys of illness — however, I couldn’t imagine how He would use that vocationally. Yet, the surety that it was God calling me to a ministry degree propelled me forward. From calls with academic advising to that fall’s semester classes, the Lord was in the details.
Fast-forward to the present day, since August of 2022, I have pursued a degree in Bible & Religion at Liberty University as a full-time student. I’ve experienced God’s faithfulness through His daily guidance and sustenance amidst hospitalizations, brain surgeries, grief, and the undertaking of a massive, ongoing physical recovery. Without God’s hand, I would be nothing.
I am grateful for the way God has breathed life into my body and, more importantly, breathed passion into my heart — using school, trials, and a broken body to guide me along His path.
Rarely since I answered the Lord’s call away from nursing have I felt completely equipped for a season He places me in. The same is true here. It’s daunting to accept a position with a medically-complex body. However, I sit in eager anticipation of what God will do in this exact space. For it is in the joys and uncertainties of these past years that the Lord has allowed me to know, experience, and share His character deeper.
This internship is a big step — one I’m SO excited for. But I cannot do it alone! So, I want to ask you to consider partnering with me in two ways: First and foremost, through prayer. In the past seven years, prayer is something God has used to sustain and encourage me, as well as to quite literally, save my life! I believe prayer is equally essential for my ministry as for my health. Please join me in consistent prayer as I prepare. Second, I ask you to consider partnering with me financially. This is a partnership because, while I will be physically at OneWay, the needs outside of the physical work are great, and they are needs I cannot fulfill alone.
Most of all, I appreciate each of you. For it’s not by my own doing that I get to be writing a support letter, but only by God’s provision via your prayers and support over these years.
With a grateful and eager heart,
Lydia Williams
