ELIZABETH MOTT
development & donor relations

MY STORY
During the fall semester of my senior year
at Wheaton College in Illinois, I was feeling quite overwhelmed by the fact that I needed to figure out what to do after graduating.
So I promised myself that every time I came across someone manning a table in the Student Center (as long as I wasn’t running to class), I would stop to chat. Introvert that I am, this was a big step for me. However, I figured that even if I didn’t get a job offer, it was a great opportunity to strengthen my “interacting with a stranger” skills. I was praying that God would use the people He put in my path to direct me to my next steps.
I talked to a LOT of people and it actually grew to be pretty fun. When I stopped to talk with a guy named George from OneWay, I was surprised that our conversation lasted for
40 minutes! He was really cool, and OneWay had some internship options that would slot
neatly with both my Anthropological training
and the work I have been doing with Wheaton College’s Donation Call Center.
Since that initial conversation with George, I have gotten to visit OneWay’s office and have begun making friends, connecting with my future co-workers and seeing what daily
office life is like for them. They have already proven their interest in investing in me as they have advised me on my senior project, provided a fresh viewpoint on the information I had gathered and have already organized a database for my potential supporters.
I’m praying that God will use my knowledge and skill sets for His glory this summer as well as give me insight and guidance for what to do afterward. I would like to invite you to come along on this journey with me. Would you consider joining my support team for this 10-week summer internship via your prayers and gifts?
