MY STORY
Dear friends,
The past few years can appropriately be labeled as a whirlwind marked by the faithful and sweet kindness of Jesus.
I graduated from Moody Bible Institute in the spring of 2020 after completing a five-year Vocal Performance degree in the middle of a pandemic. My then-current plans of pursuing a graduate degree and even performing internationally were made impossible in a flash. With a lack of direction in my life and no outlet for classical music, I took a job at a local office processing cement and ready-mix receipts. (Riveting!)
However, this is where the Lord met with me anew and compelled me to pursue a life of ministry at OneWay. In this season of calling, a friend asked me point blank one day, “Wouldn’t you rather serve the Lord instead of this random company?” Where my flesh might have been rattled by such a stark question, my heart whispered, a thousand times, yes.
Soon after, I found myself submitting my official resignation, support raising, and coming on staff with OneWay in April 2021.
Since then, I have had the joy of planning, recruiting, programming,
and running three summers of college internships (about 50 students over those three years!). I have learned that this is even more joyous work than I had imagined. Through seemingly endless spreadsheets, learning to cook a meal for 50 with a $100 budget, teary coffee meetings, pickleball tournaments, and more, I have learned more and more of the Lord’s heart for people. He not only longs for the lost; he loves his laborers.
Over the years, a passage that has simultaneously excited and haunted me is when Jesus looks at the crowds with compassion in Matthew 9. Looking at those dejected, he says, “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers” (Mt. 9:37–38).
To this day, I am brought to tears by this notion: King Jesus wants us to bring in new workers for his Kingdom.
Thank you for the roles you already play in serving Jesus and his people. As I serve with OneWay, I recognize deeply how none of us can do this alone! Humbly, I invite you to consider joining my ministry team. Your partnership and support enable me to run in the calling the Lord has set before me, activating his people to bring the Gospel to the world (and even to our backyards).
