“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”Colossians 3:23-24
Comments from previous interns.
Brock Graham:(Summer 2008) “My experience with OneWay the summer I interned was a special one for me. I learned so much about what loving God and loving other people looks like. It was a joy to learn from the OneWay staff what it looks like to be “all in” for God, and it was a humbling experience to be a part of an organization who lives to bring the gospel to the masses. There were so many things I learned that I recall and use to this day. The random pick-up basketball games and tennis matches were always a good time, too! “
Andrew Yee: (Summer 2008)“At OneWay, people focus on Christ first, no matter what the task at hand. It’s refreshing to be able to work in a place where it is commonplace to stop and pray and be encouraged in your walk with the Lord. Also, because of the size of the ministry, there was always something to do! “
Alli Crawford:(Summer 2009)” I’ve interned at many different non-profit organizations throughout my college years, but OneWay was by far my most memorable intern experience. I’ve never before been part of a team so humbly devoted to the Lord. The heart of this ministry is to know God and make Him known and they use the creativity, skills, and talents that God has blessed them with to do just that. If you have a desire to learn and to use your skills to advance God’s kingdom, if you want to grow spiritually, and if you want to gain hands-on experience working in an exciting non-profit ministry, come to OneWay. I’m glad I did!”
Charis Bastian:(Summer 2010) “As an intern at One Way Ministries, I have witnessed the dedication of every member both to the ministry, and to each other. The desire to encourage, and build one another up in faith, is evident and nurtures my faith.
My typical morning at One Way begins with a devotional and prayer time with the team, and finishes with sharing a meal together around the Thompson kitchen table. I am involved in a variety of different areas, including helping with communications projects, collecting photos and worship songs for the Prayercast website, and taking on various administrative tasks.
Aside from morning devotions, the frequent brief moments of prayer throughout the day—prayer for each other, for the ministry, and for God’s direction in every decision that is made—is a clear sign to me that God, and not ministry logistics, is our focus at One Way Ministries.
I feel privileged to be a part of a group of such faithful followers of Christ, and I am excited to see how God will work through One Way Ministries in the coming months. “
Beth Bounds:(Summer 2009) “I’m not sure I’ve been a part of an organization that looked to God first, until I became an intern at One Way Ministries. That sounds awful, or like they asked me to say that, but it’s true. It is very easy even for a Christian organization to sit back and look at the lists and lists of things that need to get accomplished. The first thing addressed at One Way Ministries was always your relationship with Christ as well as with others. After these relationships are addressed and continued to be cultivated every week, the list of things to accomplish becomes less about what we want to do and more what God wants us to do. Every day was an encouragement and a push to remember what this ministry is about- spreading the Gospel to the masses. If we weren’t living our lives and showing we believed that the masses needed the Gospel, what was the point?”
“The team in Botswana and the team in Naperville were each made up of remarkable people. I spent two weeks in Maun, Botswana (one with a team of Americans and one week by myself with the Maun team) ministering to day care centers, preschools, special needs schools, and a mission school for college age students to be trained. It was an amazing growing experience that I was so blessed to be a part of. I grew that summer and felt so at home at One Way Ministries. I often drive back up to Naperville to visit everyone. I believe that God will continue to move at One Way.”
